First try at digital scrapbooking

Newborn Ben

Newborn Ben

I finished my first digital scrapbook page last night!  I’m really proud of it, especially since I made it from scratch.  I really dislike “sappy,” so a lot of the pre-made layouts were out.  Plus I figured I had better use my 9+ years of Photoshop experience for something!

I started with a blue gradient as a background and used these grunge brushes mostly around the edges.  The ornament is from this set of brushes.  The Polaroid look was achieved with this tutorial, but I used a gradient of two really light grays instead of the Bevel and Emboss.  I got the  filmstrip look with the tutorial located here.  I used the same source image the tutorial used and everything because it was exactly the look I wanted.

The handwriting font (on the Polaroid) is called Never Let Go.  “Benjamin” in cursive at the top is in Chopin Script (one of my personal faves), and all other text is in Trajan Pro, which comes with Windows Vista.

Now I’m addicted!  I think I’m going to work on a first bath-themed one next.
